About MEP:

Located in Chicago's West Loop, Mechanical Engineering Products Company (MEP) is a manufacturer of CGA cryogenic fittings. MEP has been operated and owned in the same family for 93 years. Back in 1922, three enterprising men, Barney Seversen, Walter Myers and Eugene Leaving, founded the Mechanical Engineering Products Company to service the industrial gases industry. During the first years at MEP, Barney handled engineering assignments while Walter and Eugene performed crucial manufacturing tasks.
In 1927, Barney's nephew, Olav Knudsen, came from Norway and joined MEP. Under the skillful direction of these three men, MEP began to flourish. Before and during WWII, they used German drawings to produce automatic flame cutting machines and oxygen compressor valves - the first American Company to produce such equipment. Other quality engineering products produced during those years included hydrogen manufacturing cells and drying batteries for oxygen, nitrogen and acetylene.
In the 1959, MEP began to produce high pressure Cryogenic Pumps (still being serviced by MEP) and pioneer a machine run of cryogenic liquid transfer connections. Our connections and pumps were initially produced for National Cylinder Gas (NCG) which has since been absorbed by Air Liquide. MEP is now producing these same type fittings now enlisted on this site (via the Products tab).
Today, Jon Knudsen, son of Olav, owns and operates this business with the same precision and quality as produced over three generations. MEP maintains a running inventory of all CGA standard cryogenic liquid transfer connections. In addition, MEP meets all requirements for made-to-order specials. In the words of Jon himself, "Our policy is to manufacuture quality products and provide great service".  We'll come through for you today the same as we have done for all of our customers during the past 93 years."
